Domeland announces that Sara Ryan will be stepping down as Head Trainer later this year, after more than six years with the organisation, including the past two and a half seasons leading the private stable as Trainer.
During her time at the helm, Ryan has prepared more than 50 winners, most notably Attractable’s victory in the $3 million Big Dance at Randwick and Matcha Latte’s win in the $1 million Provincial-Midway Championships Final.
King Cheng, Domeland’s Managing Director, expressed his gratitude for Sara Ryan’s significant contributions: “Sara has been instrumental to Domeland’s success on the racetrack over the past few seasons, and I am grateful for the dedication she brought to the role.”
“Sara’s work has laid a strong foundation for the future,” Cheng added. “We’re proud of what she’s accomplished and excited about what’s ahead for both her and Domeland. We remain fully committed to our private training model and will continue to have horses in training, operating from our dual locations (Kulnura and Wyong) on the Central Coast.”
Ryan echoed that sentiment. “Domeland has been wonderful for my career,” she said. “The support and trust they’ve shown me gave me the confidence to train the way I do, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
“I will continue to train the horses to the best of my abilities until my final day, before embarking on a new venture as a public trainer.”
Ryan will continue to lead Domeland through the Queensland winter carnival campaign, including targets such as the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap and Group 2 Sires Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm.
As Domeland looks ahead, discussions are underway to identify the next Head Trainer, with a successor to be announced at the beginning of the 2025-2026 racing season, prior to the end of Ryan’s current contract.
Domeland’s privately run racing operation spans two elite facilities on the NSW Central Coast: a 260-acre property at Kulnura with a 3000m grass track, and 35 boxes based at Wyong Racecourse.
